Sop Tips part 9
selling myself ! Write a draft first. Then you will find it easier to modify and revise it. Revision should not be done at the same time of draft, because your mindset will not allow you to recall fresh ideas or points you may have missed.
Write the easier ones early, so that something is out of the way. (Does it not sound like exam writing? It is!)
Statement of Objectives (300 words?) I am now writing a draft only. I will visit this again tomorrow.
Key words :
With all the technology, the world is shrunk to a village. Having seen the advancement by several countries through the press, television and even movies, I decided that the excitement lies in being there among the top in Engineering and Science. No better place than the US of A to do this; and no better place than from a reputed school/univ out there. The real motivation is not just the excitement, but I am determined to achieve something in my chosen field, that will help me do my bit for all beings.
motivation
I am 20 years old, and have gone through a rigorous 4-year (8-semester) undergraduate program from a top institute in India. The admission to this school itself is based on perfomance in a tough competitive test, somewhat like the GRE, with more thrust on Math and Science. Besides, the Institute is a full time residential one, so I have now picked up my skills to take care of myself, barring the money!
maturity
skill
Having done my early learning in a reputed school in the medium of English throughout, I am strong in spoken and written English, not to mention the fundamentals of Mathematics and Science. Throughout the school as well as my undergraduate program, I have learnt practical laboratory methods in Engineering and Science, to bolster my subject knowledge. The experience in Industries have further enabled to do a bit of honing my skills.
all-round experience
In addition to the school and undergraduate curriculum, I have competed in sports and games, debate and quiz competitions,......and won.......prizes, cups, medals, certificates, .......Drawing, painting,........

professional plans : To leave my mark on this land in my selected profession, either engineering or related field, by practising or by research contributions.
Expectations -
Expect the school / univ to be professional, same time not forgetting its social and community objectives. As a product of your school / univ., I would like to emerge as a person who will positively contribute to humanity, by practising my profession in such a manner. Therefore your faculty and environment should get me focussed on the essentials of my chosen field, and rev up creative thinking in my mind.
The financial aid expectations are normal and natural, since I am from an educated but not a rich family.
The above is done in a bit of rush. Hope to fine tune it more.
